The best Mines strategy is to choose few mines, decide how many tiles you’ll open before you click, and cash out at that point every round. The maths is the same as a crash cash out: your win chance is about the RTP divided by the payout you stop at. With 3 mines on a 25-tile board, three safe picks happen about 67% of the time and pay around 1.45x at a 97% RTP. Mine positions are random every round, so there’s no pattern; your edge is a plan. Part of our crash game strategy guide.
Mines odds with 3 mines (25 tiles)
| Safe picks | Chance to survive | Payout at 97% RTP | £5 returns |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 88.0% | 1.10x | £5.50 |
| 2 | 77.0% | 1.26x | £6.30 |
| 3 | 67.0% | 1.45x | £7.25 |
| 4 | 57.8% | 1.68x | £8.40 |
| 5 | 49.6% | 1.96x | £9.80 |
Survival chance is the share of safe tiles left on each click multiplied together (22/25 × 21/24 × …). Casinos with a higher RTP pay a little more per step. Our guide to Plinko, Mines and Limbo covers the board settings.
The 3-and-3 plan
Three mines, three picks, cash out at about 1.45x. It’s the Mines version of a 1.5x crash target. The simulator below uses that 1.5x target: in 10,000 simulated 100-round sessions from £250 with flat £5 bets, the median finished at £237.50 and the best 10% at £282.50 or more, with no busts. Compare with the fixed auto cash out strategy.
Big-mine rounds
24 mines on one pick is a one-in-25 shot for a huge payout. Fun with tiny stakes, but treat it like chasing high multipliers: rare hits, long gaps.
Mines myths
“Corners are safer” and “the mines were on the left last time” are random streaks. At provably fair casinos you can verify every board; see provably fair explained. Mines predictors are scams, as our crash predictor apps debunked guide explains.

Pro tip: count your clicks out loud. Stopping at your planned tile is the whole strategy.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best Mines strategy?
Choose a small number of mines (1–3), decide in advance how many tiles you’ll open, and cash out at that point every round with a flat stake.
How many mines should I pick?
Fewer mines mean safer picks and smaller payouts. 3 mines with 3 picks lands about 67% of the time for roughly 1.45x at a 97% RTP.
When should I cash out in Mines?
At the tile count you planned. Every extra tile raises the payout but lowers the chance of surviving the round.
Is there a Mines pattern?
No. Mine positions are random every round. At provably fair casinos you can check them afterwards.
Do Mines predictors work?
No. Mines are placed by the server’s seed before you click. Predictor apps and bots are scams.
What is the win chance in Mines?
About RTP divided by the payout you cash out at, so a 2x cash out lands about 48.5% of the time at 97% RTP.
