What is a bankroll in gambling?

The money you set aside as your play budget, ideally split into session bankrolls. Bet size as a share of bankroll largely decides how likely a session is to bust.

Why it matters

Kenyan example: on a KSh 200 bet, a 1.50x cash out pays KSh 300. See the term in action in our Aviator Kenya guide.

Bet sizing is the single biggest lever on bust risk.

In practice

Split your bankroll into session bankrolls so one bad night can’t use up a month’s budget. Keep winnings out of the next session’s bankroll. See bankroll management for a full plan.

Example

KSh 500 session bankroll, KSh 10 bets (2%).
